We decided to get a little more philosophical with this t-shirt. The slogan on my t-shirt reads "You can't speak out without understanding." This makes a subtle reference to Plato's Republic and the concept of fully reaching understanding before educating the rest of the population who is unable to fully understand but can still gain knowledge passed from those who understand.
Invisible Children relies heavily on the assumed knowledge of the people who wear their t-shirts to explain their purpose and message. The majority of their t-shirts don't make any sort of obvious statement and require the wearer to explain the message. Unfortunately, IC does not properly educate their consumer about the products before they buy and wear them, so there is no way to know if they are in fact spreading the proper message. IC consumers really should not be speaking out about the statement on their t-shirts without proper understanding of the message IC is trying to spread.
As a result, we have come up with this slogan as a very clear statement about IC's failure to enlighten their consumer and provide them with an understanding of the product they are buying and wearing before they do so.
